Original Black Spice Chai is the classic black chai tea from Tea Cultures, No. 4 in their Tea Leaves Collection. Black tea from Sri Lanka carries the spice blend: cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, cardamom and cloves.

How it tastes

Cinnamon and cardamom lead, sweet and aromatic. Ginger and black pepper give the cup a gentle heat that builds as you drink, and cloves sit underneath and add the depth. The Sri Lankan black tea is sturdy enough to hold all five spices without any one of them running away with it.

Drinking it

Plain, it is a spiced black tea with a bit of bite to it. Made the Indian way - brewed strong, topped up with hot milk and sweetened a little - it turns into something richer, and the ginger and pepper come through the milk rather than disappearing into it.
