Gimoka Espresso 24 is an Italian espresso blend with a high Robusta content, roasted dark in the Italian style. It makes a full, powerful cup with a firm structure, a lightly spicy bitterness and the thick crema that a Robusta-heavy blend is good for. It holds its own against milk as well, so it works in a cappuccino or a latte macchiato and not only as a short black. Whole beans, 1 kg.

An Italian blend built for espresso

Gimoka Espresso 24 is put together the way a classic Italian bar blend is: a high proportion of Robusta, taken to a dark Italian roast. Robusta is what gives an espresso its body and its crema, and the dark roast brings out a deep, aromatic character rather than a bright or fruity one. On our scale it comes out at 8 out of 13.

In the cup

Full and powerful, with a firm structure and a lightly spicy bitterness running underneath. Pulled as an espresso it builds a thick layer of crema, which is the point of a blend like this one, and the shot still tastes of something once that crema has settled.

With milk

The coffee flavour comes through a cappuccino or a latte macchiato rather than disappearing into the milk. That makes the 1 kg bag a sensible one for a household where one person drinks espresso and the next one drinks everything with milk.

FAQ
Customer Questions
Is Gimoka Espresso 24 suitable for a bean to cup machine?

Yes. Our product details list the bean to cup machine as the ideal brewing method for Gimoka Espresso 24. These are whole beans, so you pour them straight into the bean hopper.

It is a dark roasted Italian blend. Dark roasted beans release a little more oil, so we recommend cleaning the bean hopper and the grinder regularly. If in doubt, consult the manual of your machine.

Do I get whole coffee beans or ground coffee with Gimoka Espresso 24?

You receive whole coffee beans in a 1 kilo bag. Ground coffee is not an option for this item, so you need a coffee grinder or a machine with a built-in grinder.

Only grind the beans just before brewing; that way the aroma is best preserved. For espresso use a fine espresso grind, for a percolator or filter machine a coarser grind.

What does the high Robusta content of Gimoka Espresso 24 mean for the taste?

Gimoka Espresso 24 is a blend of Arabica and Robusta with a high share of Robusta. Robusta provides extra body, a thicker crema and a spicy character, with a slight bitterness alongside it.

As a result the coffee flavour also comes through well in milk drinks such as cappuccino and latte macchiato. If you find the result too bitter, use a slightly coarser grind or let the espresso run for a shorter time.

Which coffee preparations is Gimoka Espresso 24 suitable for?

These beans are intended for espresso, caffè crema, lungo and latte. Thanks to the dark Italian roast and the full body, the coffee comes into its own both black and with milk.

For a double espresso allow about 16 to 20 grams of ground coffee. For a longer cup from a bean to cup machine you simply follow the dosing of your machine.

What is the best way to store Gimoka Espresso 24 coffee beans?

Store the beans cool, dark and well sealed, for example in the original bag with the seal closed or in an airtight tin. Do not put coffee in the fridge, because moisture and other smells affect the aroma.

Unopened, coffee stays good for about a year. Once opened it tastes best within a few months. The best before date is on the packaging.
