Afternoon Blossom has two tea leaves in it rather than one: black tea for the body and green jasmine tea for lift, with heather blossom and natural vanilla flavouring on top. The heather is what gives the blend its scent; the vanilla rounds it off.

How it drinks

The nose is gently floral, heather first and vanilla just behind it. In the cup it stays light and refined rather than tannic or sharp, so it sits comfortably in the middle of the afternoon where a strong breakfast tea would be too much.

Making a pot

Use about 2 g per cup, water at roughly 95°C, and steep for three to five minutes — long enough for the heather and the vanilla to come through without pulling bitterness out of the black tea. As a loose tea it wants a roomy infuser or a pot with a filter, so the leaves and the blossoms have space to open.
