Organic green tea bags from Tea of Life
Tea of Life green tea comes twenty-five bags to the box, each one sealed in its own sachet. The cup is light and clean, faintly grassy, and it finishes dry rather than sweet: an everyday green tea rather than something you have to fuss over. Brew it just under the boil, around 80°C, for two to three minutes, and take the bag out when the time is up. Water straight off the boil draws more tannin out of the leaf and turns the cup bitter.
Why the sachets matter
Green tea goes stale faster than most tea. It is unoxidised, and once air and light get at the leaf the fresh grassy note flattens out. Sealing each bag on its own means the twenty-fifth cup tastes like the first, and a couple can travel in a bag or a desk drawer without picking up the smell of everything around them.
Organic and Fairtrade
Both marks on this box are third-party certifications rather than in-house claims. The EU organic leaf means the tea was grown under EU organic rules, without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers; the NL-BIO-01 code printed beside the leaf names the inspection body behind it. Fairtrade sets a minimum price for the growers and adds a premium on top of it, paid to their producer organisation.
