This is the transparent Hario V60 in size 02, moulded in BPA-free plastic. The material is lighter and far less fragile than glass or ceramic, so this is the V60 that travels, and it wipes clean in seconds. Plastic adds nothing to the taste of the coffee. Because the cone is clear you can watch the water level fall and the colour of the brew change, which makes it much easier to repeat a cup you liked.

The cone does the work

The 60 degree angle that gives the V60 its name, the single wide hole at the tip and the spiral ribs inside are the same here as in every V60. Nothing holds the water back, so the pace is set by you: pour speed and grind size decide how long the water stays with the coffee, and that is what shapes the cup. It is a forgiving brewer to learn on and a precise one once you know what you want from it.

Size 02 and the right filter

Size 02 is suitable for 1 to 4 cups at a time. It stands 10.2 cm high and 13.7 cm wide, with a diameter of 11.6 cm. Note: only Hario V60 coffee filters in size 02 fit this dripper. A filter in another size, or from another brand, will not sit against the cone properly and the extraction suffers for it. Filters are available in white or brown.
