What the Lazarro Tasting Pack contains

The Lazarro Tasting Pack brings together all four blends in the range, each as 1 kg of whole coffee beans: 4 kg in total, roasted in the Netherlands. The four span a lighter Schümli roast through to a dark espresso roast, and every one of them is sold separately once you know which is yours.

Lazarro Barista Caffè Crema — medium roast, an Arabica and Robusta blend with notes of chocolate and spices and a creamy crema.
Lazarro Espresso Dark Roast — dark roasted, powerful, with real bite.
Lazarro Crema Schümli — roasted in the Schümli style: lighter and milder, meant for crema coffee and slightly longer cups.
Lazarro Espresso — the classic of the range: balanced and easy to drink every day.

The Schümli and the Dark Roast sit at opposite ends. If your taste falls somewhere between them, the Barista Caffè Crema is the middle ground, which is also the one most people end up reordering for a bean-to-cup machine at home or in an office.

What you need to brew them

All four are whole beans, so the pack is meant for semi-automatic machines and bean-to-cup machines with a built-in grinder. If your machine takes ground coffee, you will need a grinder as well. Of the four, the Espresso Dark Roast is the oiliest bean; our customer service gets asked about that by owners of bean-to-cup machines, and the answer is that it causes no trouble as long as the machine is cleaned on schedule.

Are the coffee beans in the Lazarro tasting pack suitable for my bean to cup machine?

Yes, this tasting pack is intended for semi-automatic machines and bean to cup machines with a grinder. Good to know: darkly roasted beans have a slightly oilier, shinier surface, and in a bean to cup machine that oil can build up over time in the grinder and the brew group. Within this pack that applies mainly to the Espresso Dark Roast.

Our customer service regularly gets this question from customers with a Jura or a comparable machine. Our answer: with regular maintenance of your machine this is not a problem in practice. If you want to avoid it completely, use the darkest bag in a semi-automatic machine and put the lighter blends in your bean to cup machine.

Which coffees are in the Lazarro tasting pack?

Do I get whole beans or ground coffee in the Lazarro tasting pack?

You get whole coffee beans, 4 x 1 kilo. The pack is intended for semi-automatic machines and bean to cup machines with a built in grinder.

If your machine works with ground coffee, you will also need a coffee grinder. Pay attention to the right grind: espresso grind for an espresso machine and filter grind for a pour over filter. The two are not interchangeable.

What is the difference between the Lazarro Crema Schümli and the Espresso Dark Roast?

The Crema Schümli is roasted in the Schümli style: lighter and milder, intended for crema coffee and slightly longer cups. The Espresso Dark Roast is dark roasted instead and delivers a powerful espresso with bite.

If your taste sits somewhere in between, the Barista Caffè Crema from this pack is a good middle ground. It is medium roasted, with notes of chocolate and spices and a creamy crema.

How do I store 4 kilos of Lazarro coffee beans?

Simply leave the bags you are not using yet closed and keep them cool, dark and dry. An unopened bag holds its aroma far longer than an opened one.

Close the bag that is in use properly after every use. Do not put coffee in the fridge or next to strong smelling products. The best before date is on the bag.
