Here, you'll always find what's needed to overcome challenges.
We're modest here, but don't be deceived.

An ode to the hidden heart of the world.

Sluyse coffee is slightly fruity with a spicy kick at the end. Made from coffee beans sourced from Colombia, Guatemala and Indonesia. The nutty and chocolatey aroma makes it a coffee that'll have you jumping out of bed in the morning. But sure, enjoy it any time of the day. Like a true Sluyser, it's everyone's pal.

FAQ
Customer Questions
What is the roast date?
The roast date of Café du Jour's coffee beans is usually a maximum of four weeks before dispatch. This means that the coffee beans are generally no older than four weeks when they arrive at your door. Many people ask if coffee beans are already too old after three weeks. The answer to that is: no. Freshly roasted coffee actually reaches its best flavour after a few weeks. During roasting, carbon dioxide (CO₂) is created inside the coffee beans, which can mask the taste at first. That is why coffee is at its best between one and four weeks after roasting. After roasting, the beans are immediately packed in special coffee bags with a one-way valve. This valve allows CO₂ to escape without letting oxygen in, so the aromas are preserved and the coffee remains fresh. This way, you can count on an optimally fresh product with a full flavour!
For which brewing methods is Sluyse coffee suitable?
This coffee is highly versatile and suitable for almost all common brewing methods. Customers enjoy it as a lungo, espresso, cappuccino, and even with the cafetière (French press). If you wish to adjust the flavour balance, simply change the grind size or the amount of coffee: for a milder taste, grind coarser or use a little less coffee.
Is Sluyse coffee suitable for cappuccino and other milk-based drinks?
Absolutely! Reviews show that Sluyse coffee performs excellently as a base for cappuccino and other milk drinks. The bold finish and full flavour are beautifully expressed, even in combination with milk.
Does Sluyse coffee have a more bitter or a more acidic taste?
Most customers experience Sluyse coffee as full-bodied and rich in flavour, with a bit of punch and sometimes a slight acidity, but not overwhelmingly bitter or sour. Of course, taste is personal: a few reviewers find it somewhat stronger or slightly bitter, especially with a fine grind. You can influence the flavour by adjusting the grind and brewing method.
What are the main flavour characteristics of Sluyse coffee?
Sluyse coffee is a lightly fruity coffee with a spicy finish. You taste aromas of nuts and chocolate, with sometimes a slight acidity. The coffee is full of flavour and powerful without being heavy. Many customers describe it as a crowd-pleaser – flavourful for different moments of the day.
Are the beans from Sluyse coffee oily or dry?
Sluyse coffee is medium roasted, which keeps the surface of the beans dry. This is better for the flavour and for your coffee machine, as it releases less oil than dark roasted beans.
