These are the paper filters you fill yourself when you want loose-leaf tea and would rather not wash an infuser afterwards. Size S is the small one, cut for two to four cups: a mug, a small pot, or a filter holder sitting over a cup. There are 100 in a box.

The flap and the pleat

Two details do the work. The fill flap at the top lets you hold the filter open with one hand and spoon leaves in with the other, instead of wrestling a paper sleeve that keeps closing itself. The bottom is pleated rather than flat, so the leaves spread out across it and the water runs through them, rather than collecting in a wet knot in the tip where half of it never brews. Fold the flap over, drop the filter into the mug or the holder, and pour.

What they are made of

Natural fibres and FSC-certified paper, bleached without chlorine, with biodegradable cellulose. They are produced in Germany.

Who they suit

Anyone who buys tea as leaves rather than bags and brews for one or two people at a time. If you regularly fill a large pot, size S will run out of room — it is built for two to four cups, not a table of them.
