When crafting this coffee blend, we put a lot of thought into how we could unite various flavours. Mild, bitter, and a touch fruity—these different tastes come from distinct beans and complement each other perfectly. This results in something lovely, truly lovely. The beans in the Central America blend hail from Nicaragua and Guatemala, two enormous exporters of some of the finest coffee beans worldwide. We select the best and roast them to a medium level just for you. The coffee is fairly mild and not too bitter.

FAQ
Customer Questions
What is the roast date?
The roast date of Café du Jour's coffee beans is usually a maximum of four weeks before dispatch. This means that the coffee beans are generally no older than four weeks when they arrive at your door. Many people ask if coffee beans are already too old after three weeks. The answer to that is: no. Freshly roasted coffee actually reaches its best flavour after a few weeks. During roasting, carbon dioxide (CO₂) is created inside the coffee beans, which can mask the taste at first. That is why coffee is at its best between one and four weeks after roasting. After roasting, the beans are immediately packed in special coffee bags with a one-way valve. This valve allows CO₂ to escape without letting oxygen in, so the aromas are preserved and the coffee remains fresh. This way, you can count on an optimally fresh product with a full flavour!
What are the main flavour characteristics of the Central America 100% arabica coffee beans?
This blend combines mildness, a slight bitterness and fruity notes. Many customers experience a full, balanced flavour with subtle chocolate and caramel notes and a slight acidity. The coffee is not overly bitter and is described as aromatic, suitable for lovers of mild yet flavourful coffee.
Are the Central American beans suitable for espresso, cappuccino and other brewing methods?
Yes, these coffee beans are versatile in use. Customers report having successfully brewed the beans in a fully automatic machine, percolator, filter machine, and for espresso and cappuccino. The balance in flavour makes this blend suitable for various brewing methods.
How dark are these beans roasted and are they suitable for lovers of both light and dark roasted coffee?
These beans are medium roasted: not very dark, but not very light either. Some customers describe the roast as being on the bold side with a roasted aftertaste; others find them perfectly balanced. If you are a fan of extremely light or very dark coffees, this product is probably less suitable. If you are looking for a mild, yet full and balanced coffee, this is an excellent choice.
Are the beans greasy or oily, and what effect does this have on my coffee machine?
The Central America blend contains dry beans that are not greasy or oily. This means they are perfectly suitable for use in fully automatic machines and other coffee machines; they do not cause extra maintenance due to fat deposits.
