Are the mesh tea tongs suitable for fine loose tea?

Yes. The strainer of these tea tongs is made of fine mesh rather than coarse holes, so finely cut types of tea stay in place well. Think of fine rooibos, herbal blends and broken tea leaf. Only powdered tea such as matcha does not belong in a strainer, you stir that straight into the water.

Is the cocoa in this Original Beans bar sourced fairly and sustainably?

Original Beans seeks out rare and authentic cocoa varieties itself and works together with the farmers who grow them. With the proceeds from this Esmeraldas bar you support the protection of the last cloud forests of Ecuador, around the Mache Chindul Ecological Reserve. In our product data this particular bar does not carry an official organic certification.

Which beans are in the Costa Coffee Caffe Crema Original Blend and how dark is the roast?

This blend combines Arabica beans from South America with intense Robusta beans from Asia. The beans are given a dark roasting profile, a dark roast, which gives the coffee a pronounced character and plenty of intensity. You buy the coffee as whole beans in a 1 kilo pack. The coffee belongs to the Costa Coffee Home Edition range, intended for making this brand's specialities at home.

Does L'OR Vibrant Espresso contain robusta?

Yes. L'OR Vibrant Espresso is a blend of Arabica and Robusta beans. Robusta gives extra body, a firmer crema and a spicy note, and so provides the strength you taste in this blend.

The flavour profile leans towards cedarwood and nutmeg, with a subtle hint of bittersweet black pepper.

Which certification does the Costa Coffee Character Bright Blend have?

The beans come from sustainable plantations and carry the Rainforest Alliance certification, the logo with the green frog. That is the only certification linked to this blend.

The Costa Coffee Character Bright Blend does not have an organic certification.

What is the difference between the Gimoka Gusto Ricco and the Gimoka Aroma Classico?

Both are Italian blends of arabica and robusta that we sell as whole beans in a 1 kilo bag, with notes of cocoa and lightly roasted nuts.

The difference lies mainly in the strength. We rate the Aroma Classico at intensity 10 and the Gusto Ricco at 13. The Gusto Ricco is therefore the strongest of the two.

Can you also use the Joerges Heritage Espresso for cappuccino or latte macchiato?

Yes. This blend is intended as an intense espresso, but just as much as a base for classic Italian coffee specialities such as cappuccino, latte macchiato and flat white.

The powerful body and the notes of nuts and chocolate remain clearly recognisable through the milk. Allow roughly 16 to 20 grams of ground coffee for a double espresso as the base.

What material is the JoeFrex knock box made of?

The outside is made of natural wood. In this new version the environmentally harmful glued plywood laminates of the old model have been replaced with natural wood, with the same stability and sturdiness.

Inside there is a removable plastic inner container made of PVC. It catches the coffee grounds and lifts straight out so you can empty and clean it.

Which grind size do I need for the Hario Mizudashi cold brew pot?

For the Hario Mizudashi we recommend a coarse grind, comparable to a French press or Chemex grind. With too fine a grind the coffee passes through the permanent filter with difficulty and the taste quickly turns bitter. If you order the coffee from us, we will grind the beans to the right grind size for you on request.

Which ingredients are in the Auro Don Papa Rum 70% dark chocolate?

The ingredients are cocoa mass, cane sugar, cocoa butter and rum. So there is no milk or milk powder on the ingredient list.

Do note the manufacturer's statement: this product is made in a facility where products containing milk, nuts and peanuts are also processed. If you have an allergy, always read the label on the packaging.

How accurately does the MHW-3BOMBER Cube Mini 2.0 weigh and what is its maximum capacity?

The Cube Mini 2.0 weighs from 0.3 to 2000 grams with an accuracy of 0.1 gram. That is precise enough to track both your coffee dose and the output weight of your espresso.

You can switch between grams and ounces. At a weight above 100 grams the scale switches on automatically and tares itself.

Which coffee filters fit the Hario V60 dripper from this set?

The dripper in this set is size 02, so you need V60 filter paper in size 02. The set already contains 40 filters, so you can start straight away.

Filters for size 01 are smaller and do not sit properly in an 02 dripper. So when reordering, always check the size marking 02 on the packaging.

Are the Kimbo Aroma Organic beans suitable for my bean to cup machine?

Yes. These are whole coffee beans in a 1 kilo pack, and Kimbo states that they are suitable for both automatic coffee machines and hand grinders. For a bean to cup machine you always use whole beans, so you do not need to grind anything in advance. If you brew the coffee in an espresso machine, a pour-over filter or a percolator, you grind the beans yourself to the grind size that suits that appliance.

Can you use the Gimoka Aroma Classico in a bean to cup machine or espresso machine?

Yes. You buy whole beans in a 1 kilo bag, so you can use them in any machine with a bean grinder, such as a bean to cup machine or an espresso machine with a grinder.

The roast is medium, so the beans are not dark and oily. That runs nicely through the grinder of a bean to cup machine.

Do I get whole beans or ground coffee with the illy Nicaragua 250 grams?

You get whole coffee beans. The pack contains 250 grams of illy Arabica Selection Nicaragua in bean form, so you need a coffee grinder or a machine with a built in grinder.

Grinding yourself? Use espresso grind for an espresso machine and filter grind for a filter brewer such as a V60 or a Moccamaster. Those two grind sizes are not interchangeable.
