The cocoa comes from Oko-Caribe in the Dominican Republic, which works closely with 165 cocoa farmers in the province of Duarte. The farmers receive training in organic farming methods, crop care and processing, and have access to microcredit. The cocoa trees grow among bananas, avocados, oranges and other tropical fruit. The beans ferment in wooden crates, then dry in the sun and are selected by hand. The bar is organic certified under organic code BE-BIO-03.
