Gorilla Espresso Delicato is a kilo of whole beans for anyone who wants a real espresso without the sharp edge. The blend is put together for a mild cup that still has body behind it, and it pours with a firm, cream-coloured crema. It works in an ordinary espresso machine and in a fully automatic one alike.

Gorilla Espresso Delicato
The name is meant literally. Delicato is the gentler side of espresso: the weight and the crema are all there, the bitterness is not. At 7 out of 13 on the Café du Jour scale it sits squarely in the middle of the range — unmistakably espresso, mild enough to drink more than one.
In the cup
Mild and strong at once is a strange thing to promise, and it is exactly what a careful blend does: plenty of flavour, very little of the bite that puts people off a dark shot. On top sits a firm, cream-coloured crema that holds rather than breaking up after a few seconds. The aroma wheel alongside shows where the flavour falls.
Machines
Whole beans, so you grind to suit your own machine. It is at home in any regular espresso machine with a portafilter and equally in a fully automatic bean-to-cup machine, which is what most of this kilo will end up in.
