Super Bar Crema is the Joerges blend for people who judge a shot by the crema on top of it. It is a blend rather than a single origin — a specific selection of roasted beans put together by the German roastery — and it is sold as whole beans in a 1 kg bag.
In the cup
Robust, with hints of wood and nuts, under a crema that comes out thick and creamy. At 8 out of 13 on our strength scale this is one of the stronger coffees on the shelf, so it drinks best short and concentrated rather than stretched into a big mug.
Espresso or caffè lungo
The roaster recommends it for espresso or caffè lungo. A lungo is the same dose of coffee pulled with more water, so you get a longer cup that is lighter than a straight espresso without dropping all the way to filter strength — a useful second option from the same bag if a full espresso is more than you want in the afternoon. Either way you will need a grinder or a bean-to-cup machine, as these are whole beans.
