Hario V60 coffee filters - size 01 colour brown (VCF-01-100M) - 100 pieces

These are the original Hario V60 paper filters in size 01, the brown unbleached version, supplied 100 to a pack. They are cut for the Hario V60 No.1 dripper and also fit many other one- to two-cup drippers with the same conical shape, so it is worth checking that your dripper takes a size 01 filter before you order.

Brown or white?

The difference is the paper, not the brand. The brown filters are left unbleached; the white ones are bleached. Both are the same cut and the same size, so a filter of either colour drops into the same dripper and holds the same dose, and which one you keep on the shelf comes down to preference. The white size 01 filter sits alongside this one in the range.

Using them

Fold the filter along its seam before you set it in the cone, so that it sits against the ridges of the dripper instead of bunching up at the spout. Wetting the paper through with hot water first is worth doing if you want to warm the dripper and the cup at the same time; tip that water away before you add the coffee. Paper of this kind holds back the oils and the fine grounds, which is what gives a V60 its clean, light-bodied cup next to a metal filter.
