Italian Biscuit Duo - Cantuccini & Amarettini

Two Italian classics in one pack: 175 g of cantuccini, the hard, twice-baked almond biscuits from Tuscany that are meant to be dipped, and 200 g of amarettini, the small, light bitter-almond biscuits that go two at a time beside an espresso. Both are made with almonds. Two bags, 375 g of biscuits in total.
Cantuccini and amarettini
These are the two biscuits an Italian bar keeps within reach of the coffee machine, and they do rather different jobs. Cantuccini are baked in a loaf, sliced and then baked a second time, which is why they are so hard and why they keep so well. They are made to be dipped: a few seconds in the coffee softens the edge and the almond comes forward. Amarettini are the opposite — small, light and crisp, carrying the bitter-almond flavour of amaretti in a biscuit you finish in one bite.
What is in the pack
- Cantuccini, 175 g — Tuscan almond biscuits, hard and crunchy, made for dipping.
- Amarettini, 200 g — small bitter-almond biscuits, light and sweet.
- Two bags, 375 g of biscuits in total.
- Both biscuits are made with almonds.
What to drink with them
Espresso is the classic partner: short and bitter against something sweet and almondy. The cantuccini want a cup deep enough to dip into, so they suit a full espresso or a cappuccino better than a ristretto, while the amarettini are small enough to hand round with any coffee at all.
