    Details

L'OR Riche Espresso, by the box

This is the full box: six 1 kg bags of L'OR Riche Espresso, six kilos of whole beans in total. Same coffee as the single bag, same roast, just more of it.

Riche is a dark roast built on Arabica beans, and the roast is what you taste first: dark chocolate and caramel, deep rather than sharp, with a hint of macadamia sitting underneath. On the Café du Jour scale it is 8 out of 13, so there is real weight to it without going all the way into bitter, smoky territory.

    Brewing it

It is built for espresso and ristretto, where the dark roast gives a full-bodied shot. That same depth is what makes it hold its own under milk, so a cappuccino or a latte macchiato made with it still tastes of coffee rather than of warm milk. The beans are whole, so grind to suit your machine: it runs in a traditional espresso machine, in a bean-to-cup machine and in a filter coffee maker.

    FAQ
    Customer Questions
Is L'OR Riche Espresso really 100% arabica?

Yes. According to the product information from manufacturer Jacobs Douwe Egberts, L'OR Riche Espresso is a 100% arabica coffee, and that is how it is supplied to us. The claim is not printed prominently on the packaging itself, which is why customers sometimes doubt it. Following such a question we checked with the manufacturer and the 100% arabica specification was confirmed.

What exactly is in the value box of L'OR Riche Espresso?

This box contains 6 packs of 1 kilo of L'OR Riche Espresso, 6 kilos of coffee in total. These are whole coffee beans, so not ground coffee. It is exactly the same blend as the single 1 kilo pack. The composition of the box is fixed and you cannot adjust it.

Is L'OR Riche Espresso suitable for my bean to cup machine?

Yes, these whole beans are suitable for espresso machines, bean to cup machines and filter coffee makers. Riche Espresso is dark roasted though, and dark roasted beans are slightly more oily. So keep the bean hopper and the grinder of your bean to cup machine clean and dry. If you are unsure about your model, check the manual to see what the machine manufacturer says about dark roasted beans.

What does L'OR Riche Espresso taste like?

Riche Espresso is a powerful, dark roasted espresso blend with intensity 8 out of 13. You taste deep notes of dark chocolate and caramel, with a hint of macadamia. It comes into its own as espresso and ristretto, and thanks to the full flavour also in cappuccino and latte macchiato. For a double espresso, allow around 16 to 20 grams of ground coffee.

How do I best store a box of 6 kilos of coffee beans?

Simply leave the packs you are not using yet closed, because unopened packaging stays good the longest. Store the box cool, dark and dry and not in the fridge, because beans absorb moisture and odours there. Seal an opened pack as well as you can and preferably use it within a few weeks. Only fill the bean hopper of your machine with as much as you will use up in a few days.
