One cup or one pot

This Royal Tea strainer is a stainless steel basket that hangs from the rim of a mug, a glass or a small pot and holds the leaves while you brew loose-leaf tea. Two short handles sit on the edge, which keeps the basket down in the water instead of floating on top of it, and it lifts straight out once the tea has drawn long enough. Nothing else to assemble, and nothing to throw away afterwards.

Room for the leaves

The basket measures 5.5 cm across and 7 cm deep. That matters more than it sounds: whole leaf tea triples in size as it steeps, and a cramped little ball infuser holds it shut so the water never gets through the middle of the leaf. There is space here for a cup's worth of leaf to move around. Stainless steel rinses clean under the tap, takes no smell from one tea to the next, and goes in the dishwasher when it needs more than a rinse.

The drip tray

A separate drip tray is included, so the dripping basket lands on that rather than on the worktop or on a saucer you then have to wash.
