Which filter is compatible with your machine?

Before anything else, look at the holder in the water tank. A screw-in cartridge has a threaded neck and turns into place; a plug-in cartridge is simply pushed on. This is the screw-in type, and it fits every machine with a screw-in holder.

What it takes out of the water

The cartridge sits in the water tank and filters the tap water on its way into the machine, holding back chlorine, lead and copper. You taste that in the cup rather than see it: water is almost all of what you drink, and chlorine in particular flattens the aroma of a good coffee.

It is not a descaler

A water filter will not keep your machine free of limescale on its own. Descale it at least twice a year, and always take the filter out of the tank before you start a descaling programme.

When to replace it

One cartridge handles 50 litres of water, which works out at roughly 400 mugs of 125 ml or a thousand 50 ml espressos. Whether or not you get that far, fit a new one every two months.

How often should I replace the water filter?

We recommend replacing the water filter at least every 2 months. The filter is suitable for filtering approximately 50 litres of water, which corresponds to around 400 cups of coffee or 1,000 cups of espresso. With intensive use, it may therefore be necessary to replace the filter more frequently.

Does this water filter also help prevent limescale build-up in my coffee machine?

This water filter removes chlorine, lead and copper, among other things, from tap water, which can improve the taste. However, it does not completely prevent limescale build-up. We recommend descaling your machine at least twice a year. Do not forget to remove the water filter before descaling your machine.

Is this filter an original branded item?

This water filter is an alternative product and not an original branded item from, for example, Melitta, Krups or Siemens. However, it is fully compatible with screw-in filter systems from these brands.
