The packaging of Julius Meinl now says Vienna, because the brand comes from Vienna. The packaging has been updated and looks different from before, but the beans in the bag have stayed the same. If you have a largely black pack with the number 9000403895327 below the barcode, you have the Julius Meinl Espresso Premium Collection in your hands.
The tasting pack consists of four 1 kilo bags: Hausbrandt Qualità Rossa, Hausbrandt Espresso (Nonnetti), Hausbrandt Gourmet Columbus and Hausbrandt Superbar. That way you taste four blends from the same brand side by side and discover which coffee suits your taste best.
The tea filter has a diameter of 5.5 cm and is 7 cm high. From handle to handle it measures 10.5 cm, and it is on those handles that the filter rests on the rim of your cup, glass or teapot. Do measure the inside dimension of your cup or pot: if the opening is narrower than about 5.5 cm, this filter will not fit in it.
Landhaus Klassisch has a filter grind, which makes it ideal for the classic filter coffee machine and for percolators. Simply spoon the coffee into a paper or permanent filter and let the machine do the rest.
It is too coarse for an espresso machine: the water runs through too quickly and the coffee ends up thin and sour. It does work in a cafetière (French press), but because the grind is relatively fine you will get more sediment in your cup. In that case, brew it for a little less time and pour carefully.
Naturmild refers to the character of the blend. The beans and the roast have been chosen so that the coffee is low in acidity, which gives a soft, rounded cup with a lightly nutty note and no sharp finish.
People who sometimes find ordinary filter coffee a bit sharp or harsh often end up with this type of coffee. Do bear in mind that mild here refers to the taste and not to caffeine: the caffeine content is simply that of regular coffee. If you are looking for coffee without caffeine, have a look at Landhaus Entkoffeiniert.
Within the European Union, roasted coffee may only be called decaffeinated if the caffeine content stays below 0.1% of the dry matter. In practice that comes down to a few milligrams per cup, compared with roughly 80 to 100 milligrams in a normal cup of filter coffee.
So it is not quite zero, but the difference is so great that most people can enjoy a cup in the evening without any trouble.
Gala Mild Aroma has a filter grind: exactly the fineness that filter coffee machines and percolators are built for. Simply spoon the coffee into a paper or permanent filter and let the machine do the rest.

The main addition is real-time flow rate measurement: you can see live how many grams per second are running into your cup, rather than just the final weight and the time. The 3.0 Pro also has three separate modes (manual, pour-over and espresso), each with its own display and timer behaviour, plus a memory function that remembers your last settings.
What has stayed the same: the compact cube shape that fits under your machine, the accuracy of 0.1 gram, the automatic start with tare, and the USB-C rechargeable battery. If you already own a 2.0 and mostly pull espresso on autopilot, there is no need to upgrade. But if you want to fine-tune your pouring technique or extraction while you are brewing, the flow rate display is what makes the difference.
For the 600 ml Mizudashi, fill the filter with about 60 grams of coarsely ground coffee. That is a ratio of roughly 1 to 10 and gives you a full-bodied cold brew that is ready to drink.
If you prefer it milder, use slightly less coffee or shorten the steeping time. Pour the cold water slowly over the coffee so that everything gets evenly wet.
The acidity is part of this coffee and comes out most strongly when you brew it as espresso. We recommend trying it as slow coffee from the Chemex, the French press or the filter, which keeps the acidity more in the background. If you grind yourself, it helps to grind a little finer, use a slightly higher dose and hotter water: that tones down the sour notes. For filter and French press, allow around 5 to 8 grams per cup.
The rooibos in this blend comes from South Africa, where the rooibos shrub grows naturally.
Red Rooibos Chai is certified organic and Fairtrade. The rooibos therefore comes from organic cultivation and the growers receive a fair price for their harvest.
Ginger Root consists of a single ingredient: ginger. No sugar, flavouring or other herbs have been added, so you taste the cut ginger root in its pure form. That gives it a spicy, full flavour. If you would like to read the exact label, check the packaging.
