The caffeine content of the beans in the Café du Jour Espresso Madrugador is roughly between 1.40% and 1.75% of the bean weight. That is mainly because this blend is predominantly Arabica with a handful of Robusta added, and Robusta naturally contains more caffeine.
In practice that means: a single espresso uses about 7 to 9 grams of coffee, which works out at roughly 100 to 150 mg of caffeine. A double shot is therefore about twice that. The exact amount depends on your dose, your grind size and how long you let the shot run: more coffee in the portafilter and a longer extraction put more caffeine in the cup. So treat these figures as a guideline rather than an exact measurement.
To experience the beans at their best, we would recommend drinking them within three months. However, even after that, the coffee will still be very tasty, but the quality of aroma and flavour will gradually decrease. In any case, it is advisable to consume them within 12 months.
Segafredo does not mention slow roasting anywhere on the packaging of the Selezione 100% Arabica, so we cannot confirm it and we assume it is not the case. In practice, treat this as a regularly roasted Italian blend. What you do get in the cup is the classic Italian profile: a velvety crema, a fruity and floral aroma, a chocolatey taste and a nutty aftertaste.
If you are specifically after slow roasted beans, have a look at the fresh coffee from Café du Jour. Those beans are slowly roasted by hand in small batches and the roast date is always printed on the front of the pack. Slow roasting generally gives a softer, less bitter cup with more nuance in the aroma.
Unfortunately, we cannot determine that from the packaging of this coffee. If you are specifically looking for a CO2 water decaf, I can refer you to the 100% arabica decaf speciale or the 100% arabica decaf espresso.
The Hario filters with a W at the end of the article number are bleached. The Hario coffee filters with an M at the end of the article number are unbleached. We cannot determine from the packaging whether adhesive has been used. You can find the unbleached variant here: Hario V60 Coffee Filters - brown size 02 - 100 pieces
A cappuccino has equal parts espresso, milk and milk foam, whereas a Flat White contains a double espresso with less foam and a velvety milk texture. As a result, a Flat White tastes stronger and creamier than a cappuccino.
A Flat White usually contains a double espresso (ristretto), which provides a stronger coffee flavour in relation to the milk.
Whole milk is ideal, as it creates a silky smooth microfoam. Prefer a plant-based option? Oat milk is a good choice because of its creamy texture and excellent foaming properties.
